The sixth and penultimate stage of Santander Brasil Ride Bahia was held this Friday (12), in Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro. In the traditional Olympic Cross Country circuit (XCO), the riders compete individually and, after the dispute, each team has the average time of the duo added to the total time. Among men, Portuguese José Dias won, and maintain the GC lead, along with Dutch Hans Becking. In the ladies caregory, Marcella Toldi used her experience to win the stage.

The men's podium in the stage also had Gustavo Xavier and Alex Malacarne, both from Specialized Racing BR, who continue to fight for the trophy for the best duo in the Americas. With the victory of José Dias, Scott Buff MTB Team increased the gap a few seconds ahead of their main competitors, Edson Rezende and Ulan Galinski, Caloi Henrique Avancini Racing Team. Now, it's 19min48 for Henrique Avancini’s young pupils.

"Right after the first lap, Gustavo and I opened a small advantage and ran a good part of the race together and, in the end, I pushed a little more and got the victory in the individual stage. I am very happy. Congratulations to the Specialized boys, who had a great race," said José Dias.

"This Saturday we will try to have a calm day and try to enjoy this leader's jersey to the fullest. The goal is to bring this year to a perfect end. A year that has been incredible for me, and also for Hans," concluded Dias.

A tight time difference - Although Marcella Toldi won the XCO, the Germans managed to reduce the advantage of the competitors. The difference is now 3min30, as Diesner and Jördens have climbed the podium, while Azevedo was in fourth place, just over five behind Diesner, third placed for the day.
