Considered the most difficult stage of Brasil Ride, the Queen Stage was held on Wednesday (23) and showed that DMT Racing Team Tiago Ferreira (POR) and Hans Becking (NED) are in good shape to defend their yellow jersey. After riding 104 km and climbing 2,600 m, Ferreira and Becking won the fourth stage in 4:38:39, just over three minutes ahead of Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) and Matous Ulman (CZE) from Specialized Racing and Henrique Avancini and Manuel Fumic (GER) from Cannondale Factory Racing XC, who finished practically together.
With the win, Tiago Ferreira and Hans Becking increased the lead in the GC. In the previous stage the gap was 4min33, now it increased to 7min47, as Avancini and Fumic finished the fourth of seven Brasil Ride stages in 4:41:53. "The stage was pretty fast from the start because Avancini and Fumic wanted to keep up a fickle pace. On all the climbs they were pushing hard, but fortunately Hans and I were fine and we were able to follow them smoothly. In the Seven-Turn Climb (Clear the Climb RedBull Challenge) we managed to escape, and gave everything to open a gap, and have a larger advantage in the coming days", said Tiago Ferreira.
The Queen stage had the best result of the duo formed by Olympic champion Jaroslav Kulhavy and Matous Ulman. "The Queen stage was really tough, mainly because the climbs were steep and difficult. We did a good job again and followed the overall standings, which is good for us. We look forward to the fifth stage when we will return to the beach. Maybe we can go up in the general classification, which would be very cool for us" said Jaroslav Kulhavy.
Women’s elite - In the women's competition, the orange jersey changed hands again, returning to the duo formed by Jaqueline Mourão and Danilas Ferreira, from Sense Factory Racing / Tropix Brasil. Jaqueline and Danilas won the stage, not only regaining the lead, but also opening a good gap ahead of Viviane Favery and Tânia Clair Pickler from Cannondale Brasil Racing / Soul Cycles, third place of the day. Karen Olimpio and Ilda Pereira, from FKS Racing Team / Casa Myze Team were second in the day.
Fifth stage - The return stage to Arraial is the second longest in distance, with 140 km. There is a false impression that it is just downhill. For many athletes, it is the most difficult sage, since it is the fifth stage, and has plenty of climbs, especially until halfway the stage. Many ups and downs until Km 50, when it reaches the second point of hydration and Shimano. neutral assistance. From then on, there are mainly dirt roads, where the pelotons are formed. Long flat roads, riders drafting in a long line. Around km 110, the trails enter the Pau Brasil National Park, a conservation area, and then goes on to the Brasil Ride Arena in Arraial d'Ajuda.
