São Paulo (SP) - The Discovery Coast in Bahia will breathe cycling again from 15 to 21 of October. The best mountain bikers in the world will be back for the eighth edition of Brasil Ride, the most important MTB ultra-marathon of the Americas. As usual, the event will bring together more than 1,500 athletes: 500 participants for the full Brasil Ride experience and other a 1000 cyclists competing on Saturday (21th) in the Marathon of the Discoveries, feeling the taste of one of the seven stages of the race between Arraial D'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, and Guaratinga.

"Brasil Ride is the biggest mountain bike stage race with full-service on the American continent. From the start, cyclists only need to take care of their bodies and focus on the race", says Mario Roma, founder of the competition. "Nutrition, water, isotonic drinks and carbohydrates are available at hydration points throughout the course. We have teams that include a trained medical team in the course of the race and a mobile hospital in a fully equipped truck operating in Brasil Ride Villages", complements Roma, highlighting only some of the differentials of the race.

The eighth edition will have the traditional seven stages, opening the competition in the prologue on Sunday afternoon (15th) and closing it on Saturday (21th). Cyclists will pedal for about 600 km, with the altimetry accumulated around 13,000 meters between sea and mountains. After Arraial d'Ajuda, the race will passthrough Eunápolis, Itabela and Guaratinga, arriving in the region of São João do Sul.

The coastal area of Porto Seguro offers a lot of single tracks for cyclists. In the countryside, close to the border of Bahia and Minas Gerais, the attractions are cocoa plantations, parks and mountains - the big stages will be held in that region.

Athletes always compete in teams (doubles or trios) in the categories ladies, mixed, open, masters (no athlete under 40 years), grand master (no athlete under 50 years), nelore (over 90kg) and corporate (three members).

In addition to the seven categories there are also two special jerseys: American man and American ladies. The jerseys are independent from the category in which the team wasregistered. The award is open to all groups, for athletes with a valid passport from a country of the American continent (North, Central and South America).

Infrastructure - Brasil Ride’s eighth edition will once again provide cycling enthusiasts with unique experiences in the interior of the state of Bahia. Athletes, staff and volunteers will be accommodated in a city set up especially for the competition for 800 peopleduring their days in Guaratinga.

The numbers of the infrastructure in the two Brasil Ride Villages are massive: 10,000 liters of water for athletes during seven stages, 6,300 fruit units and 5,500 meals served, 60 tents, including two of 500 m², 700 sleeping tents, 16,000 meters of bump tape and about 50 vehicles traveling the courses of the tests, among cars, motorcycles, quadricycles, ambulances and trucks.

Recognition - Six times Guidão de Ouro (for the best mountain bike competition in Brazil) award winner, Brasil Ride recognition is growing in the MTB community. At present, mountain bikers usually compare the event with the most important races of the world and have  nicknamed the ultramarathon the "Giro de Italia of MTB".
