August, 2025 - The waves at Jacaraípe Beach, in Serra, Espírito Santo, Brazil, will once again become the center of attention for bodyboarding worldwide. The ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro, presented by Extrabom, is the final women's event of the World Tour and will bring together the top athletes from the IBC (International Bodyboarding Corporation) world rankings, from September 11th to 21st.
Approximately 120 bodyboarders from over 10 countries are expected to participate. Registration is now open. The ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro will have a total prize pool of US$45,000, a 28.5% increase compared to the 2024 edition.
It will feature names such as the world ranking leader and vice leader, Alexandra Rinder (Austria) and Namika Yamashita (Japan). Brazil will be represented by athletes such as Neymara Carvalho – five-time world champion, Maíra Viana – current world champion, and Maylla Venturin – three-time Brazilian champion.
Standouts from the new generation, Luna Hardman – two-time Pro Junior world champion, Pro Junior champion and Professional runner-up in last year's edition – and Bianca Simões are also confirmed. Another athlete to beat is Mariana Nogueira, the current master champion.
"Wahine is more than a championship. It's a major celebration of women's bodyboarding, showcasing the representation, strength, and future of women in the sport. It's an opportunity to meet and share experiences, something that goes beyond the competition itself. I have high expectations for this edition, which will further strengthen the event," emphasizes Neymara Carvalho, the event's creator and organizer.
Professional, Pro Junior, Master, PCD (amputee, mastectomy, and visually impaired) and Mothers & Children categories will be contested.
Before and throughout the ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro, activities are planned, such as a social workshop, beach cleanup, and environmental education circle. Also noteworthy is the Maria da Penha Law Itinerant Court bus, known as the Pink Bus, an initiative of the Espírito Santo State Court of Justice that aims to support women victims of domestic and family violence. And the kids' area, which will be a free attraction for children and the community surrounding the championship over the weekend.
