December, 2020 - A new mountain bike event to quickly gain the spotlight in the cycling world. This is Brasil Ride Espinhaço, to be launched next Saturday night, December 5, live on Facebook and YouTube. At 7:30 pm (Brasília time), on Brasil Ride channels on Facebook and YouTube, the challenge will be officially presented and registration will be open at www.brasilride.com.br. Along with founder Mario Roma, Henrique Avancini, number 1 in the world ranking, Tiago Ferreira, world and European champion, José Luiz Vasconcellos, president of the Brazilian Cycling Federation, and the mayor of Conceição do Mato Dentro (MG), Zé Fernando.

"After ten years, Brasil Ride needed a new challenge. A new phase, a new era of mountain biking in the country. Espinhaço is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, with an enormous amount of trails throughout the region, which made us sure that we could provide all athletes a unique Brasil Ride", says founder Mario Roma.

"After three years scouting all over Brazil, Conceição do Mato Dentro was chosen to receive version 2.0 of Brasil Ride. We are building an XCO track in town. This will be our first legacy for this region. Mayor Zé Fernando challenged us to transform the city into the heart of Brazilian Mountain Biking. We are challenge-driven and the brand is ready: #CMDS2MTB", adds Mario Roma.

Brasil Ride Espinhaço will take place on March 2-6, and will have two host cities: Conceição do Mato Dentro, 140 km from Confins International Airport, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, which will be responsible for hosting the opening and closing ceremonies, and the neighboring municipality of Congonhas do Norte. The schedule will also include the Cipó Marathon, closing the event on March 6th.

A Stage Race that debuts as an official event in the calendar of the International Cycling Union (UCI), with over 140 thousand reais for athletes, the largest cash prize in the history of Brazilian cycling. Offering 150 world ranking points to elite winners, it will be a race with quick stages, at a strategically important moment for high performance cyclists.

This will certainly be an intense challenge for riders, with five days of competitions in Serra do Espinhaço. Riders race in teams, enjoying the astonishing landscapes of the state that is the birthplace of mountain biking in Brazil. Skills and intensity are the hallmarks, with short stages and high speeds.

Aiming at professional and amateur cyclists alike, Brasil Ride Espinhaço will have a total of 12 categories: Open, Women, Mixed, Master, Grandmaster and Corporate. Besides these categories, there are six special awards: "American Jersey for Men", "American Jersey for Women", "Nelore", "Iron Rider", "Guarini" and "E-MTB", in the first assisted mountain biking ultaramarathon in the Americas.
