Brazil's Henrique Avancini and Germany's Manuel Fumic partener up for Brasil Ride 2018

Cannondale Factory Racing XC duo among the favorites for the ninth edition of the main MTB ultramarathon of the Americas, from October 21 to 27, in the South of Bahia

The ninth edition of Brasil Ride, Americas’s most important MTB ultramarathon, promises to be the most competitive in race history. Arraial d'Ajuda and Guaratinga, in the state of Bahia, will host the competition from 21 to 27 of October. Brazilian Henrique Avancini, number 2 in UCI’s world ranking and 13-times Brazilian Champion, and German Manuel Fumic, 9-times German Elite and Under-23 Champion, confirmed that they will race as partners in Bahia.

They will face some of the best cyclists in the world circuit, as 2012 Olympic Champion Jaroslav Kulhavy (who will form Specialized Racing team with Howard Groots) and 2016World Champion and 2017 European Champion Tiago Ferreira (who will race with Hans Becking for DMT Racing Team by Marconi) ar also confirmed.

Brasil Ride’s champion in 2013 and 2017, Henrique Avancini will have  an ideal partner in Manuel Fumic to seek his third title. Jiri Novak (2014, 2015 and 2017) is the only rider with three titles. Cannondale Factory Racing XC tem will race wearing the national championship shirt, which adds value to the German-Brazilian partnership.

"Fumic joins two Olympic and four World Championship champions, two European winners and 17 cyclists with national titles. These world-renowned athletes provide an unmatched week for MTB lovers who are scheduled to compete on Saturday (27) in the Marathon of the Discovery. They arrive traditionally the day before to watch the cross country stage, while the 500 finishers of the ultramarathon will live even more unforgettable moments in their lives, living together for seven days with these beasts. More than a race, it will be a stage in the lives of these people," adds Mario Roma.

The event - Considered the Giro d'Italia of the world MTB, the ultramarathon scheduled for 21-27 October in the South of Bahia offers a challenge for the 500 participating athletes from all over the world. For seven days, the participants will ride for 600 km and endure almost 11,000 m of accumulatedaltimetry, between tracks and dirt roads that connect Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Brasil Ride Village, built annually in Guaratinga. On the last day of the competition, on Saturday (27), another 1,200 cyclists from all over the country join the stars of the international mountain bike race for the Marathon of the Discoveries. A unique opportunity to ride side by side with the bestmountain bikers in the world.

The ninth edition of Brasil Ride has Specialized, Shimano and Unidas as sponsors. Government of Bahia, through the SUDESB (Superintendence of Sports of the State of Bahia) and Bahiatursa (Superintendence of Tourism Promotion of the State of Bahia), also sponsor the ultramarathon, while the Municipalities of Porto Seguro and Guaratinga are among the supporters.
