Rio de Contas, Bahia - Brazil - After the third stage of Brasil Ride, a Cross-Country race with 30.8 km, the Austrian Daniel Geismayr and Hermann Pernsteneir, opened a good gap at the top of the GC in the sixth edition of the main MTB ultramarathon of the Americas. With the results in this Tuesday (20th), the Austrian duo is 13 minutes and 55 seconds ahead of Hugo Prado Neto and Lukas Kaufmann. The 2014 champions, Hans Becking (NED) and Jiri Novak (CZE) - 9h18min25 - are in third, and the Brazilians Henrique Avancini and Wolfgang Olsen are in fourth, with 9h27min30. Among the ladies, the distance to the leader duo, Raiza Goulão and Viviane Favery, is even bigger. With 11h48min14, they are 1 hour and 4 four minutes ahead from the Italians Annabella Stropparo and Elena Gadodoni. Isabella Lacerda and Nina Baum (EUA) are in third place - 14h08min12.
According to the regulation set by the race organization in the Cross-Country, the third of seven stages of Brasil Ride, as soon as the champion crossed the finish line after the four laps, no other athlete could open a new lap. In the Open category, Avancini got the best time among men, ahead of Becking and Geismayr. Among women, Raiza was the only one not to be cut off on the last lap. Annabella and Isabella completed the ladies podium.
Fourth stage - Next Wednesday (21st), athletes will reach the highest point of Brasil Ride - 1,099 meters. Consequently, the downhill called Kamikase will be one of the attractions, with a 12-kilometer single track. After an overwhelming downhill, the race ends with a climb to complete the 84.7 km route ending in Rio de Contas. The start is scheduled for 8 a.m. and the first athlete is expected to cross the finish line in a period of 4 hours. As the second stage, with the Vietnam trails, the fourth stage of Brasil Ride also features cutting time. The bikers have nine hours to cross the finish line.
Oakley challenge - Felipe Abreu Rodrigues, from Savana Bikeshop Team, won the Oakley challenge in the third stage of Brasil Ride. He is in the Corporate category and received the prize for being the first biker to cross the Oakleys portal along the way in his category.

The sixth edition of the main MTB Ultramarathon promises to overcome borders. Daily, video production teams from Brasil Ride will have their images available on a tune with an Uplink. Cross Country World Champion in 1995 and gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, the Dutchman Bart Brentjens will also act as commentator of the competition. He is the official commentator on Red Bull TV on all stages of UCI MTB World Cup. At the trails, Bart goes in search of the third championship of the master category alongside Abraão Azevedo, one of the biggest names in Brazilian cycling.

About the event - Brasil Rides sixth edition is going to happen between October 17th to 24th. The event gathered 500 athletes from 23 countries and 18 Brazilian States plus our Federal District. The race is now S1, after being rated S2 in 2014, and will award the Elite Categorys champions 120 points in the rankings of the UCI (International Cycling Union). These points are really precious for the Brazilians who are fighting for a spot at Rio Olympics 2016. In addition to the prizes offered after every stage of the race, this edition will have the highest prize in money ever offered for cycling in Brazil, with about R$ 70,000.
