Awards for the sixth edition of the most important MTB ultramarathon of the Americas will be equal to elite men and women

São Paulo, Brazil - The most important MTB ultramarathon of the Americas, Brasil Ride continues to fulfill its purpose of promoting the sport in the country. The race, scheduled for October 17th to October 25th in Chapada Damantina, Bahia, will give over R$ 68,000.00 (U$D 17,000.00) to the winners, including overall rankings and individual stages finish places. The figure represents the biggest value awarded in a cycling competition in Brazil for the season.

The race is also breaking ground in gender equality. For the first time, elite men and women registered in the UCI (Union Cicliste Internationale) will receive equal awards in stages and overall results, provided by the Regulation (16.4). "It's the biggest prize money in a cycling event in Brazil, if you sum up overall and stages awards for professional athletes and amateurs. It's worth remembering that we have more prizes. The seven stages will award over a hundred products, offered by the sponsors, that are not calculated in those R$ 68,000.00", said Mario Roma, founder of Brazil Ride.

More than 2,000 cyclists from 30 different countries challenged the trails in the heart of Chapada Diamantina, between the towns of Mucugê and Rio das Contas, for the past five editions. The participants always compete in duos. Brasil Ride 2016 will once again feature seven categories: Open, Women, Mixed, Master (for athletes over 40 years old), Grand Masters (over 50), Nellore (for athletes over 90 kg) and Corporate (for trios).

So far, 19 countries will be represented in the 2015 race: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Paraguay, Portugal, South Africa, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Uruguay and USA.

Attention: During the event, text, photos and videos will be available to all media daily. For media enquiries and image requests, please contact redacao@zdl.com.br or +55.11.98783 7408.
